Job Location: 
ILSC-San Francisco is currently seeking a full-time ESL Instructor/Registrar to join its USA team.
ILSC Instructors are motivated, enthusiastic and experienced linguistic and cultural ambassadors to our international students! They are crucial to our mission to deliver transformative life and learning to each and every one of our students.
ILSC Registrars are responsible for all aspects of student registrations for ILSC’s San Francisco and New York locations as well as SEVIS compliance. The job requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a comfortable relationship with numbers! Our Registrar will be responsible for much of the school’s image and should be personable, professional, pro-active and efficient.
Job Duties: 
1. Instructor: Instructors prepare lessons designed to increase students' speaking skills and listening comprehension, their accuracy and fluency, appropriate to a broad range of situations and needs, and in accordance with the ILSC philosophy of student-centered teaching. High quality delivery is expected. Teachers are also responsible for:
a. Eliciting students' interests and language needs in an organized way
b. Assessing students language needs and planning lessons
c. Submitting structured Course Outlines that are also to be shared with students
d. Selecting appropriate materials and resources (generated by students, teachers, or from ILSC Resources and Media)
e. Using materials effectively
f. Creating an atmosphere that encourages all students equally in self-expression, self-reflection, cooperation and leadership
g. Evaluating progress (ongoing) and conferring with students individually according to the specifics objectives highlighted in the Course Outline
2. Registrar
a. Receive and enter all applications. Assess each application for completeness, respond to questions from the student or their agency. Track applications through the entire registration process, ensuring that all subsequent changes and information is accurate and complete in the school administration system (Odyssey) and all other records (e.g. SEVIS)
b. Respond to inquiries within ILSC’s 24-hour response policy, and/or redirect same to the appropriate person within the school. Advise on ILSC-San Francisco and ILSC-New York’s policies and procedures
c. Maintain accurate and complete students files and records, as required by the school’s accrediting body, including add/drop/cancellation logs
d. Run and issue reports from Odyssey in order to support the work of accommodations, academic or accounting teams, the school director or other senior management
e. Provide student or their agent with invoices. Calculate refunds as necessary
f. Ensure compliance with accrediting body and state licensing standards as applicable to the department. Update policies & procedures documents as necessary 
g. Assist with preparing documents and information for orientation. Presenting information to new students on their first day
h. Support students with course registration, culture shock
i. Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO):
i. Advise prospective students, agents, colleagues and partner programs of ILSC-San Francisco and ILSC-New York’s admission requirements, procedures, programs and activities
ii. Manage the student visa process. Counsel applicants on visa process, current federal immigration policies as they relate to ILSC-San Francisco and ILSC-New York. Collect all required information, print and send I-20 forms
iii. Weekly SEVIS registration for incoming students
iv. Provide support on I-20 and F-1 student issues to current students, including change of status, vacations, transfers, employment, etc.
v. Attend professional development sessions on a regular basis, as determined in consultation with the School Director
3. General Office
a. Contribute to the smooth and professional operation of the office, including taking shifts at reception as needed
b. Answer telephones and greet visitors as needed
c. Assist colleagues with their work when possible
d. Be available to students with general enquiries
e. Support the administrative team whenever it is short-staffed because of illness or vacations
f. Attend staff meetings
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes: 
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject (Education, Linguistics, Languages, etc.) from a recognized university; Master’s Degree preferred but not required
 Certificate in language instructing & 3 years of experience teaching language
 Excellent organizational and computer skills
 Successful interview & Positive and enthusiastic references
 Previous knowledge of SEVIS, student services, international admissions and school admin software preferred (but training is provided)
Language skills
This position requires strong critical thinking skills, the ability to read, analyze and interpret documents written by non-native speakers of English, transcripts and financial information in addition to the ability to write clearly and professionally while being sensitive to the needs of students and clients. Discretion will be required in dealing with private/ sensitive information. Knowledge of another language also an advantage (Portuguese, Korean, or Thai preferred).
Mathematical skills
The position requires the ability to calculate percentages, discounts and commissions.
